408 Cylinder Walls

I am running a 408W with 6.25 rods, all forged, balanced. It's 11.5:1 and gets wound up to 6800 fairly often. The motor is fairly new...one summer season. I lost a head gasket and noticed some pretty fair wear on the cylinder walls, the outside of the wall (opposite the manifold) and when the piston is near TDC. Is anybody else seeing this..and should I be concerned?

Oh by the way for all those out there considering a stroker...dude, I have it in an old Bronco, the thing is a complete animal, down right scary.

Hey no help with your question but I would like to know what the rest of your combo is. I'm trying to deside on some parts for my 408 that will be going in a 74Bronco.

Haven't seen any probs. With that long of a rod it shouldn't be a prob. Unless the piston was installed too sloppy in the bore, poor ring package selection or possibly the pistons were ground wrong.

Are you running a good air filter? On a Bronco, I assume you are off road. Maybe in the mud. If you get dirt in the engine it can scuff cylinder walls.
