water pump NOT pumping!!!!!

i've been fighting the over heating problem with this 94 explorer 4.0 that this guy said,Come get it out of my yard[img]/phpBB/images/smiles/icon_tup.gif[/img]so i did.He said the head gasket was bad and hes not gonne fix it.So i put some water in,bleed the air out and sure enough it over heats.(it runs sweet)Took the stat out,still over heats[img]/phpBB/images/smiles/icon_mad.gif[/img].Theres no water in the oil,no steam out the tail pipe WTF[img]/phpBB/images/smiles/icon_bicker.gif[/img].SO with it full of water,no stat,and a heater hose off,i started it and reved it up and NO WATER came out the heater hose WTF[img]/phpBB/images/smiles/icon_mad.gif[/img][img]/phpBB/images/smiles/icon_mad.gif[/img].I have NEVER HEARD of a water pump not pumping

Happens more than ya think, the impeller rusts away, and theres nothing left to move the water.

Just happend on my grandmas 98 Contour. It was a plastic impeller, so it actually cracked in half.

[img]/phpBB/images/smiles/icon_cool.gif[/img]had an impeller shaft break on my mustang once, ok twice.

Checked a new pump once, there was NO impeler in it! sent it back and have checked every one since.
