Ignition System

Finally looking to order my ignition system for my 289. I'm building my engine with the performer series and plan to use it to drive to work daily. No racing planned. I'm leaning towards to MSD 6A box and MSD TFI coil and MSD distributer. Any suggestions? Are the one wire systems a real advantage?

thanks in advance...btw...this is my first engine and this forum gave me the courage to do it...

If you truely will not race itthe 6a box will work fine.Money was getting a bit tight on my project (and I wasnt going to race it) when it came time to order my msd so I ordered the 6anow everytime I pull up to the line I regret it.

I have MSD dizzys in both my motors. However I use the Crane Ignition box. Good Stuff either way you go. Good Luck

Thanks for the input....any thoughts on the HEI distributers versus having the coil mounted seperately?

Or is this just a personnel preference thing?

thanks

I run an MSD dizzy with a Mallory VI (#685) box. Nice setup. If you're not going to race it, the 6A or about any of the good boxes will work. The MSD with the mag pickup is supposed to be one of the most reliable. My timing is rock solid. One idea - look for a box that multistrikes under 3000 rpm. It'll help driveability some.
