O2 sensor

Fuel consumption will go up a lot.

The O2 sensor's output is about 0.8 V when rich and 0.1 when lean. The ECU tries to keep the value in between by adjusting the fuel flow. When it's broken, the sensor will give a low voltage (I suspect) all the time, so the ECU thinks the engine runs lean and tries to enrich the mixture.

O2 sensor

I had a sensor go out on my jeep after a head rebuild. I took it into my favorite shop and he instantly knew it was bad just by looking at it.

It had a telltale light grey-kinda-powder-like coating all over the electrode. He said it was from silicone contamination, most likely from RTV on the new intake gaskets.
