Launching advise?

I just got to the track this weekend with my first set of slicks. I drive a 84 F-150. The beginning of the night went well but the weather rolled in and temp dropped to about 55. It was 75 and sunny earlier.

Well my question is when I was launching later in the evening my tires were still breaking loose. I did hook up okay but I could feel the slip off the line. I was running 11psi in the tires and had a half turn in on the caltracs. I'd stall it up to 2700 and let her go. Early in the evening the tires stuck good but when it cooled down I couldn't stick it. I was getting a good burn out prior too. Any advise would help. I'm pretty new at this. The best 60ft time I could get was 2.0433. That was while it was still warm. After it cooled down I'd made adjustments and with the tires breakin loose was getting a 2.49-2.62 60ft times. Thank you all.

Launching advise?

Howdy, Justin. The track looses some grip when it gets cold. That and the street tires on Friday (I assume from your description it was Friday) eat up the starting line. And the street cars track water EVERYWHERE. If you're running slicks, you'll need to burn them good in the later rounds on Friday - they do not respray the track like Saturday. Also a good idea - roll into the water, turn the tires a few times slow, then roll 5-10 feet out of the water box and burn the tires when they signal it's OK.

I set my Cals with a 1/2 turn each side, check for even tension, then add 1/2 more on the right.

The burn out is the main key to a good launch when the track starts to go away. I was there also Friday night and had to do a little more burn out to keep the 60's close.
