393 W- Super Victor vs. Victor Jr. ?
How much does a Vic Jr. limit power output in a , say, 620 hp 393 W ( AFR 205 heads)equipped with Super Victor?
The ports in a Vic Jr. are about 1/10" narrower at each side than the intake ports in AFR 205s.In theory, if the ports were centered to each other, there would be a step of 1/10" at the walls, roof and floor of the port.

Don't have exact numbers, (don't have ANY numbers, really), but talking to EVERYONE, anything with high UP potential, and 400 cubes or more should be running a super vic.
Good luck, Ville!

I think you're asking whether or not an *unported* VJ will perform against an *unported* SVJ. At 620HP the PORTED VJ will work fine.
Why choke the heads at the big end to get some velocity at the low end?

Allenman, do you mean port-matching or enlarging the passages all the way by porting ?

393 W- Super Victor vs. Victor Jr. ?
The port outlet size of the Super Victor is pretty much exactly the same size as the intake ports of the AFR 205 heads. It looks like a match made in heaven. No port enlargement is needed at all! (I mocked up a 408 with this setup)
Only problem, is the intake has the ports raised around 1/8" or so... To get it to fit perfect, you've got to mill the intake gasket flanges and bottom of the intake to get the intake to sit lower. A couple people on here have been through this, including Drag79Stang, so they should be able to help you with the amount to cut off.
Good Luck!

I´m sure the port match is much better with the SV but I am afraid of loosing btm end tq and therefore prefer the VJ.Remember this is a manual trans street car after all...the engine must pull cleanly from around 2000 rpm up.

Its like Mike said a match made in heaven. I just did the sv and the afr 205's also and they match up the best i have seen with out working on them.

With your stroker, and that light of a car, Ville I don't honestly think you're going to even notice any amount of loss because of the SV usage.
As far as 'milling for fit', sounds like some people got LUCKY, and didnt even have to custom fit their SV on top of the 205s.
Unfortunately I was not one of those. I/we ended up taking 140" total, (if memory serves me correctly), off the sides, total, and another 100 off the bottom to fit. ANd still it wasnt perfect, but REALLY close to perfect.
Good luck.
*My machinist has a fully (i.e. profesionally ported Vicjr.), and wanted to do back to back dyno tests on my engine last winter, just 'to see' the diff. I didn't want to play the intake musical chair game, so opted not to.
Otherwise I'd have real world numbers for ya. Sorry.

Ok,looks like the SV would be worth trying but at the moment I try to satisfy with the old VJ...bolted it on already due lack of time. But, the SJ will likely be tried later.
I´ll post the results of the first seat-of-the pants feelings with the new cam+heads+suspension in 1-2 weeks
