The AFR 165 article inspired me...

I am fairly new to Ford Muscle, and after reading the AFR165 article, it sort of inspired me to build a bit of a 'sleeper'.

I have a 1993 5.0/5speed notch that needs some more oomph, but I don't want to give away anything to any onlookers.

I was thinking about going with a combo similar to the one in the article:

AFR 165 Heads
1.72:1 Roller Rockers
Mildly Ported Cobra Intake (have access to one cheap)
65MM Throttle body
75MM MAF
255 lph fuel pump
AFPR
24 lb/hr injectors
1 5/8" shorty headers

I want to keep the stock cam, for the time being. The car already has 4.10 gears, aluminum driveshaft, BBK catted X pipe, magnaflow mufflers.

Will this sound noticeably different with the heads/intake/tb, maf, etc. as compared to the stock heads, intake, tb, etc. that are currently on the car.

I just liked the idea of having a fairly tame idling/sounding car that was capable of solid 12 second times on just the motor, and if I throw a little squeeze on it, might have a chance at 11's to surprise a few folks around Des Moines, IA.

I think its a good Idea. Wont thoes gears be too much for the street though?

With regard to the gears being too much for the street, I'm using a 4.30 rear gear with the same trans and it's perfect for my setup, cruise at 70 at 2400 rpm.
