You can change the input shaft, a new one can be had for $60.80 at National Drive Train
http://nationaldrivetrain.com. it's easy to do just remember the check the end play on the trans after the swap.
You will probably have to shorten the nose on the bearing retainer too. You might want to replace it with a steel one if it has an aluminum one now ($35 or so from Summit Racing).
I suspect you can also change the tail shaft housing as well.
