Got my 331 dyno\'d and the results are...

297 HP @ 6200 and 307 torque @ 4100 at the wheels. So if I adjust for 20% loss, I end up with 371 HP and 383 ft/lbs torque at the flywheel. EA 3.0 predicted the mufflered engine would be 380 HP and 391 torque (using 410 cfm flow spec of the mufflers) so it was off by less than 10 HP... very accurate! Open header prediction is 417 HP and 418 torque so if its high by 10 like it was for the mufflered version, that would put it at 407 HP and 408 torque...that would be fantastic!!

I had dynomax super turbos on it and the carb has not been tuned (670 holley avenger taken right out of the box) and the timing may not be optimum. I gotta feel that the heads are flowing pretty well to get peak HP at 6200 and it hasn't even been tuned yet!

I took it to Brothers Performance in Corona, Ca. They could only dyno...they could not monitor air/fuel or timing.

It definitely feels like it's putting out a lot of power.

By the way, got the car weighed at the scales...3100 lbs on the nose.

Here is a pic of the completed car.

Adtually the "20%" factor is bogus. Loss is variable. You're running a C4? Then add about 45HP around 5500RPM.
You'd be around 345HP which is reasonable for a 331.

This factor is anywhere from 15% to 25% depending on who you talk to. 45 HP at 5500...OK...so what is the loss at 6200? The 9" rear end is not lossless either so what is it's factor? 9" rears tend to be more lossy than some other large rears. Probably gets it right back up to around 371 HP when all is said and done.

Thats great, sound like your happy with the way its turning out. It always nice to meet the expectations we set for ourselfs which can sometimes be very difficult in our cars performance. Get some driving time in a tune it out, then go to the track and post some times....looks great!

Sounds like a nice little combo. I really like your car. It is sharp. I am sure you will get more out of it when it is tuned. It is not uncommon to get another 15hp to 40 hp after you get it dialed in.
