Help Me Choose an Ignition System

I'm looking for some advice on a new ignition system for my car. 68 Mustang w/289. Street/Strip car around 275-300 horse. I currently have a factory dizzy with a pertronix unit. I have been looking at MSD but can't decide on a dizzy and ignition control box.

Standard Dizzy $206
Pro Billet Ready to Run $286
Pro Billet w/Vacuum Advance $260
Pro Billet Dual Pickup $250

MSD-6A $150
MSD-6T $176
MSD-6AL $196

I was leaning towards the Pro Billet w/Vacuum Advance but I don't know the exact differences b/t the rest of them. What are some pros and cons of each? Any suggestions on a new setup will definitely help.

Thanks
Aaron.

Help Me Choose an Ignition System

I run an MSD Billet and a Mallory VI (#685) ignition box. I'm very hapy with the setup. The box is programmable and has a lot of nice features like rev limiters, start retard, window switching, etc. Less pricy and easier to config and wire than a box full of MSD stuff.

Standard dizzy and a 6al box will do you fine. The 6al will give you the top end rev limiter and the price is good.If needed in the future there are many add ons you can get for the 6al.

ACCEL #110-71201E, that and their Super Coil. That'll light your fire with only a few easy wires to run. User friendly to. $202 for the Dist from JEGS + shipping.

I use a MSD 6AL, Billet Small Diameter MSD Distributor and MSD Blaster coil on my stroker 408W. Great end to end performance.

if your looking for a cheaper alternative to an MSD dist. you can try a factory 84 302 unit. same basic internal design as MSD without the billet stuff.

6AL hokked up to the stock dizzy, either Pertronix or points. You can not beat the performance and the cost. Make sure the dizzy is in good shape, and you will have great spark on a budget. I turn my 351 w 7500 with points and it does not skip a beat.
