wheels again

i have spent lots of time on the mustang fourms as well as reviewing dodgestangs chart or wheels sizes and have concluded that on a 68 mustang with shelby drop and 1 inch drop coils, i can fit a 17x8 with 4 3/4 BS and a 235/45/17.
before i go out and drop 900 for some wheels can anyone say that they have tried this combo? according to all to the charts it has with out rolling the finders and because my car is painted i dont believe i can roll them. but it would be nice to hear if this will work before i drop that kind of money.

thanks
ryan

You know you could mock up that combo with cardboard/plywood since dimensions for wheels and tires are all available. Plug it on the front and back with the jackstand/block under the lower arm and turn the wheels to look for interference up front and check the tubs in back to look for rubbing. With 45 profile that tire won't "lean" much in corners.

A few hours in the garage to set it up would save you the aggravation of rolling the fenders with a baseball bat after you've got the combo mounted.

thats what i am trying to avoid is having to try to roll the fender without screwing the paint up. i was watching horsepower TV last week and they had some cool too for checking wheel and tire combos. i wonder if any of the local tire places have something like that. ill have to call and find out.

Find someone with the combo you want, buy them dinner and then try on two of their rims and tires.
