Lexan? windows - rules? and install techniques

Good Morning

I have a cracked front window in my 64 Falcon Futura. Front glass seems to be a hard item to find for this car. Since this car is a race only vehicle, can I just install the lexan, or whatever type of plastic it is, in this car. Is there any rules against it? If it is ok does anybody have any info on the install techniques?

Thanks
Jim

All I know about it is that everyone at the track that has it hates it after it starts getting weathered. After awhile it produces a lot of glare. This is only what I heard from others.

i also hear they dont last very long. i read somewhere that pro cars like pro stockers replace their windows once every 2-3 races or something of that nature. but as far as your question regaurding the rules it all depends on the class you race in. i will be replacing all the side glass on my comet (ie: door glass, rear 1/4 glass, and vent window. for me it will be easy cake cause they are all straight. i assume yours will be trickier. sorry cant help with instalation tips. good luck though.

Regular Lexan will haze over time, but it's not too bad if you are careful. Two things. Only use a soft cloth to clean it. Paper towels will ruin it. Alo don't use windex or anything with ammonia in it to clean it. Straight water on a cloth diaper works best.

I replaced the door glass in my 69 Mustang drag car with regular lexan and they still looked fine after over 2yrs (until I sold the car). I was just careful when I cleaned them. It had a few scratched spots, but no haze.

They also make a Lexan called Mar-Guard. It costs about 4X the regular stuff, but works best for a windshield. It's scratch resistant and will not haze if cleaned correctly. You can also buff out any scratches that you do get. You need the 3/16" thick for a windshield.
