300 inline 6 to a 390

Will the 1986 3 speed with overdrive tranny, bolt up to the bell housing of a 390, if not any sugestions for tranny

300 inline 6 to a 390

The 300 six shares bellhousing pattern with 240, 3.8 v6, 289 (after 65), 255, 302, 351 w, and 351c. I don't think that bell will bolt right up to a FE 390. But I've been wrong before.

your right about the bellhousings, but I think he's asking if the tranny will bolt to a 390 bell, which it will.

Yup, I blew mine up [img]/phpBB/images/smiles/icon_smile.gif[/img] Unless you can say for certain your not gonna get "spirited" while driving, I wouldnt recommend it. It'll work for short term, and the mileage is great, but the aluminum case just cant handle big block torque. It twists the case just enough to accelerate the wear. Mine lasted about 6 months behind my 460.
