Why A Price Difference Between R.Rear And L.Rear Brake Roters
Different part, same question.
A few years back, I was looking to replace the motor mounts for a 1983 Mustang GT. At the time the car was still relatively new, so we went to the local Ford store parts dept. One side was $30 - $40, the other was $120 or so, and they would have to order it. I asked what's the difference? They couldn't give me a good answer. If I ordered the part, it was a no return, so I decided to chaeck a few other places.
I called several mail order dealers, got pretty much the same difference in price (they were cheaper than the local store, but the side to side difference was pretty consistant). I decided to go to the local NAPA store, got both for less than $90, one was still higher than the other. After looking them over, I still couldn't see what made one worth 3 times more than the other?
Update: I have recently purchased new mounts (poly) to replace the stock motor mounts, they were sold as one set, no difference in price. I still don't understand the reason for the price difference in the original set, I didn't go back tot he dealer to see if they still carried the part or if the parts are still priced different from one side to the other?
Also, this difference seemed to be peculiar to the 1983 only, at the time, I was tempted to buy the later model mounts, but...again that was a special order.
