Need HELP with drive shaft safety loop.

I bought a loop for my Mustang from Ford Motor Sports, for witch it has not come to my house yet. Here is my problem maybe.I have a Mack Flow Chamber Pipe on my car and the box that separates the two pipes looks to be in the way.

Here's my question...does the loop fit up in the floor tunnel (I have never installed one before) on any of my street cars.

Need HELP with drive shaft safety loop.

It encircles the driveshaft and bolts to the floor near the front ujoint. It has to loop up in the trans tunnel otherwise the shaft won't clear it. You may need to massage things with a hammer to get it to fit - depends.

Either a 2 pc or a single loop will have the top part of the loop in the tunnel and the bottom below the d shaft.Make sure you install it within 6" of the trans tailshaft per nhra/ihra rulebook.

I a mac pro-chamber on my car and there is no problem with the loop hiting the pro-chamber. on my car the loop is in front of the box. so you shouldnt have any problems with the pipe or the loop.

Need HELP with drive shaft safety loop.

Since I never run at the track(no saftey equipment always get thrown out after a couple runs or the end of night) I honestly cannot remember but I believe 12.99 and faster requires one. Somebody correct me I am wrong cause I well could be. I do know they are looking at easing the rules for newer cars (does anybody know if it has happend yet) that would allow factory style cars(again newer) to run in the 12s maybe 11s without the standard saftey gear. Thier reasoning if I remember was they were engineered better and safer than older cars. and to help alleviate some of the street racing by the younger crowd.

Would like to add I will be adding saftey loop. Lost a drive shaft a couple mths ago(nice aluminum one). Could have prevented it with the loop

Need HELP with drive shaft safety loop.

At our local track (IHRA) its now 13.99 or quicker or if you run slicks you must have a loop.

I'm not aware of any "easing" of rules for newer cars. If anything, the rules are getting stricter. The only rule change I'm aware of related to newer vehicles involves the allowance of electric shifters in non-electronics classes in IHRA. This is because new cars with electric autos already have electric shifters.

The rules he is talking about are in the NHRA. The rule is for factory cars that can run in the 11 - 12's from the factory. The rule states that these cars can run under the relaxed rules as long as the car is factory. Once the car has been modified in any way it must conform the the same rules as any other race car that runs that time. And when they say factory they mean factory. No gear changes, power adders, headers, ect...
