C4 Output Shaft - Slip Yoke - Drive Shaft - Pinion Yoke?

Hey guys, I searched through the forums and didn't find the answer to a couple of questions that were asked of me today. I am in the market for a new drive shaft and went to a drive train shop today. I was armed with all the dimensions and info that I thought I needed; except he asked these questions as well:

What is the dimension (dia.) of the output shaft?

What is the inside dimension (dia.) of the pinion yoke where it mates to the u-joint?

Are these valid questions even though he has been told it is a 28 spline output shaft and a plain-jane 8" rear in a 66 mustang? Or, is he just giving it proper diligence?

Is $275 reasonable for yoke, shaft, and u-joints?

C4 Output Shaft - Slip Yoke - Drive Shaft - Pinion Yoke?

500 dollars got me a new shaft with ends, trans and rearend flanges, and 1330 series u-joints. Guaranteed up to 650 hp. All my guy asked was length of tube and trans rearend combo.

If the driveshaft guy doesn't know that stuff already, you might consider going somewhere else.

Or, just go to the junkyard and get your own slip yoke and pinion yoke.

That way you know they are right.

Then all he needs to know is the length.

Got mine done this way, it cost $180.00 with huge Spicer U-joints and a full balance job.
