Clicking noise when turning right...

I have a '68 Galaxie 500. When moving along and turning right I get a clicking noise fron the front left of the car. It seems to happen any time there is a load on the front left suspension. It's a 'click click click' sound that's steady with the speed of the car. Only present when turning right to load the front left.

Any thoughts on what it may be? I get a light clicking noise when driving along that I believe is the center caps in my wheel covers rattling around. I don't think this noise is from the wheel covers though, but I'm gonan check to be sure by removing the wheel covers and see if the noise goes away. I gotta take 'em off anyhow to get the center caps snug so they don't make noise.

Anyhow, what could the noise be?

Have you pulled the center cap and checked the wheel bearings, castellated nut and cotter pin? Something is either loose and/or needs replacment, lubrication.

Jack up the car, grab the tire top and bottom...then push and pull. If there is any give, then you need to have the wheel bearing checked. Do it soon, and you may save having to replace the spindle too.

Not that it can't be something else. Don't want to come off as an expert. But its a good first place to start checking.

I wonder why it would only click under more load though... I'll re-grease my wheel bearings and check the adjustment. If that doesn't do it I may as well replace 'em, it's cheap enough to do.

Rim could be flexing under all the weight also... but sounds more like a bearing'ish problem to me too...
