Do all FMX transmissions slip the 2-3 shift in cold weather until warmed up?

This morning I noticed my transmission slipping on the 2-3 shift for the first few times until it warmed up. I think it may have done it a little bit last winter, but barely noticeable, now it's worse, but still not too bad. Why would it do that? Anything I can do about it? A few months ago I changed the trans fluid and filter, and that seemed to firm up the shifts a bit. It didn't slip before or after that though (weather was warm).

My old car, a '67 Gal with an FMX did the same thing. Only thing is that car had 200,000 miles on it, this one has 110,000 miles. The FMX in the '67 didn't start slipping until the second winter I had the car. So far this is the only real problem these small block Galaxies have that I've seen, other than the frame rails prone to rott under the doors (which my '67 had badly and my '68 is pristine).

I could give it a good home, plenty of burnouts and high RPM WOT shifts.

I'm actually kinda excited about this, maybe eventually I'll lose 3rd altogether... At which point I will have the perfect excuse to swap in a manual transmission. Powershift here we go.

Either that or an AOD, depending on if I can find a pedal and z-bar setup and how expensive all the stuff for the swap is.

Na sorry mate,it isnt spose to slip. I flog the christ out of mine, draging and big big big burnouts. They have to be built "Big time tuff". They are a very big heavy box and tax the most power (around 50HP) according to ford manual.
But it does it for me. The better alturnative im told is the C4, if your going to spend money on anything do it to the C4.

Goodluck mate.

Sound like its time has come. Bad seals will cause it to slip.

Yup I agree...

Throw some Trans-X in it. While I've never tried it in a FMX, it has breathed new life into a bunch of tired old C6s and Turbo 350s for me.

Trans-x swells the seals inside and out.
I haven't used it myself but it can't hurt it any further if you put a little bit in. You will definitely have to rebuild it if it's slipping and while trans-x is not a cure all, it can help you to that next paycheck.
