\"A\" servo in my C4?

From what i can gather the "A" servo sucks right?

What kind of gains would i see from changing from my 2,000 stall to a 3,000,a PA servo, and a PA reverse manual valve body?

Would i notice anything?Or is that toomuch stall on a street driven car?

Will swapping the valve bodies and servos make much difference over what i have now if i stay with the 2,000 stall and vice versa?

I would do all of the above. The converter will give you the most improvement.
I wouldn't put in a manual valve body with only a 2000 stall. It will shake your teeth loose. You need a higher stall to absorb some of the shock. 3000rpm stall is not too high for the street. Hell, I'd go even higher (with a good cooler) but that's just me.
The better servo will give you a stronger 2nd gear. Although some people use the "A" servo, it has a small apply piston diameter and can lead to a slipping band.

I dont think I've ever seen an aftermarket race C4 trans sold with an A servo.

Hope that answers your question.

Go to the C4 pages and read the monster thread and/or monster thread edited. Just about any C4 questons, including servo questions are answered there.

If you swap from an A to an H wit no other changes, you'll likely notice nothing at all. There will be little "gain". The trans will probably shift a little harder. Afte that - 3500 stall is not too high for a street car, with the right gearing. You don't want to run a 3000+ stall with 3.00 gears. Also, make sure you run a good trans cooler.

Get a PA or TCI billet servo - you'll thank yourself later. Otherwise try to scrounge up a C4 H or R servo at the least .

The "B" and "O" servo is the junk ones. "A" is alright, has the same apply as the "R" but has the release of the "H". "R" is my favorite because it allows for a quicker 2-3 shift and the "H" just allows for a harder 1-2 shift. C4s with shift kits of aftermarket valve bodies and good bands don't wear out intermediate bands and therefore don't need the large apply area of the "C" and "H" servos. The small realease are of the "R" is more important for saving the direct clutches. That is the weak link.

having used all including C, Z, O, TCI, PA, and another brand of Billet servos, I will have to say that the R is the best all-around. Better 2-3 shift than the H.

You won't notice much if any difference by just installing a servo. You'll have to upgrade the valvebody by using either a manual one or simply using a shift kit (I make my own of both). With a little more line pressure, a manual valve body, and an R servo, yes...it'll rattle your teeth, and yes you'd better have a 3000 or better converter to absorb the shock of everyday driving, either that or keep a few U-joints and rear end parts on hand
