brakes on a 82 t-bird

i am working on a 1982 t-bird and the brakes are spunggy. What is the problem? How do i fix it? can you guys help?[img]/phpBB/images/smiles/icon_bow.gif[/img][img]/phpBB/images/smiles/icon_bow.gif[/img][img]/phpBB/images/smiles/icon_bow.gif[/img]

Well spongey[img]/phpBB/images/smiles/icon_spongebob.gif[/img] usually means air in the system as air is much more compressible than liquid ( brake fluid) Other problems would be the rear drums might be out of adjustment which would cause more pedal travel that might feel a bit spongey [img]/phpBB/images/smiles/icon_spongebob.gif[/img] regardless a full inspection for leaks and general condition including all hardware like sliders and springs etc. would be in order. It may do you well to bleed the entire system too. A poor pedal can also mean a bad master especially if it leaks down. HTH Stu

Before you go replacing stuff... since its an 82 I'd bleed all the old fluid out and fill it with new first.
