Scat Vs. Eagle

Is there any reason why one should go with either crank or rods from these companies besides the pricing? I am about to build a 393 with around 550hp and am kinda on a budget.

Scat Vs. Eagle

The SCAT crank and H-beam rods I used in my 331 were of very good quality with excellent machine work.

Never used any Eagle stuff myself.

Scat Vs. Eagle

I've used both.

The latest Eagle crank had to be polished. It was about .0006 in. too big on the mains.. I still wound up using a .001X bearing.
Some of the new Eagle cranks are being offered with an internal balance.

The Scat billet crank for the evil twin is perfect out of the box. As it should be for that kind of money.

Scat Vs. Eagle

I am very happy with my Scat stroker crank and H beam rods. My confidence was further increased when my Performance machine shop said that they have never had to send a single Scat Crank back to the manufacturer (and they had even had some custom made for BIG STROKERS.) They also said that they did not have as good luck with the Eagles and have sent several (about 30) cranks (and some rods) back through the years.

Scat Vs. Eagle

I have had more than one reputable shops tell me that Scat holds better machining tolerances than Eagle.

I myself have looked at Scat and Eagle side by side. The Scat stuff looks way better in appearance.

I have a scat crank and h-beam rods in my 533 and everything went together perfect. Products look good and never heard anything bad about them. I'm running 14-1 compression on the rods and no problems. Chris

My forged Eagle crank and H-beams checked perfect.

scat and eagle both make great parts.

YOU SHOULD use the company that your machine shop has good relations with.

Scat Vs. Eagle

My Eagle brand crank checked out within .0001 and balanced out pretty easy. It is still running strong oil pressure after 2 years on the street and hundreds of 1/4 mile blasts with a oem oil pump. I would buy one again. If money is no object then buy the best you can get.

My UNDERSTANDING (and correct if i'm wrong) is Scat is made in china or else where but machined here at their shop in my area.
