Does anyone know if 5.0 (roller cam, late 80's Mustang) pistons/ rods work in a '69 block/'69 crank/'69 heads(stock) 302? Balancing issues, compression ratio, valve-to-piston clearance are what I'm wondering about. Thanks for any help.

Dont know a lot about the answer, but I do know the back of a late mdel crank is machined for a 1 piece seal and I think the rear main is different because of that.

Not real positive, but I would say yes...as long as the donor isn't an '86 that has those bastard E6SE heads. they have true flat tops with no valve reliefs.

The pistons are E7's, so they're newer than '86's. Yes, these have valve reliefs. Just thought maybe we could gain a little compression over the stock '68 dished pistons. I already have a couple sets of those E7's, not much $$$ to just buy new, besides I've got to spring for a new crank kit for the '68 block, and already have everything else for it. Someones got to build the junkyard dogs out here.

you may want to have it balanced as the later model rods (from what I've seen) are lighter at the big end than early rods. Other than that, I don't see any problems
