fuel line size for a 331

Hi all,
I'm building a 331 with AFR 185 heads, a 650 cfm carb (type/brand unknown at this time), XE274HR Comp cam (.515 lift, I believe), Edlebrock Air Gap manifold and I'm told I'm going to have to upgrade the fuel line from 5/16" to 3/8". I'm thinking this might be overkill. Should I upgrade?
Thanks.

No 3/8 is not overkill, It will be perfect for your combo. Make sure you go 3/8 right from the tank pickup to the carb.

in your case 1/2" line would be overkill, 3/8" is fine.

Fuel line diameter depends upon horsepower. General rule of thumb is 5/16" is adequate for about 300 hp, 3/8" for 400-500 horses and 1/2" above that level.
