Edelbrock Performer RPM Heads Are they good heads?

Are Edelbrock Performer RPM Heads good Heads for a 69 351w
W/2.02 intake valves 60cc

How much Hp will they make out of the box?
Will they be a major improvement over 69 4barrel heads?

Should I save my money and get somthing better?

im running rpm heads on a 69 351w after using ported 69 351w heads and the difference is like night and day,IMO theyre a good street head,but there are alot better heads out there of course , im happy with the rpms,havent had my combo on a dyno yet so i cant say what sort of HP im making but i KNOW im making a ton of torque

I've got them on my 351w... I havent ever had anything other than stock heads so I cant compare them to AFR's etc, but they work very well for me. they were a fair bit cheaper than any other heads(here in canada anyways). in a 3100lb fairlane with street tires, 625 carter and 4:11 gears it rips off a VERY traction limited 12.9 and should really be about a 12.4(my friend ran a 12.3 on slicks in his 440 6pack with a 1.7 60ft time... I had a 2.2 60ft so theres .5 already waiting)... i think with slicks and a bit of tuning (just got a 750) I'm looking for a 12 "0h"or even a high 11. oh ya, its my summertime daily driver too.

I feel it was money well spent for me.

What is the rest of your combo? Cam specs, intake, compression, etc, etc.

I picked up 5mph in the 1/4 mile when i swapped from stock 351w heads to the ebrock heads (1.90/1.60) on my 289. engine combo is the "my car" section.

Here ya go. I ran ported D0OE 351 heads years ago on a 302. .030" over, L2249NF-30 TRW pistons, about 11:1 compression, Erson hydraulic flat tappet cam, 239 @ .050 .512" lift, performer RPM intake, 830 HP carb (annular boosters), C4, 3900 stall Fairbanks converter and 4.62 gears in an 8" rear. All that in a '75 Maverick bracket car. With the DO0E heads, it went 10.30's all day long (1000' track) and won a bunch of races.

I won the track championship that year, took the money and bought a set of RPM heads #6025 (old style).

With no other changes, same timing, jetting, intake, etc...ran 9.50 and 107 mph. That's .8 improvement in ET and 9 mph, 1000' of course. Later I added a custom solid roller cam and good ol' timing chain instead of gear drive, rejetted, retarded the timing back to 34. Picked up another .25-.30 and 2 mph. Yeah, it's an extreme example, and the old iron heads were ported by a guy in northern part of the state...who makes some of the fastest factory cast-iron head Ford small blocks in these parts, so he knows what he's doing.

For the money, you can't beat 'em. Great heads. But, the new style heads have the spark plugs located deeper so with the L2249 dome pistons, you'll have to notch the top center of the dome slightly for spark plug clearance. Considering AFR 165's are nearly $1300 depending on where you get 'em (the next best head in the class) you're saving some money...Edelbrocks are around $1050 again depending on where you get 'em. Dad has those old heads now, as well as the solid roller camshaft....and is still xeroxing time slips like I used to do, but now he's running a 331 (mine was always a 302) and running 8.90's at 111 mph. Cant' complain about the heads though. They're still doing their job, 10 years and about 10,000 passes later.

My set up is:1969 351w stock stroke 30over.
The cam and pistons will be changed when I do the heads.
I have a performer intake and was thinking of going with victor jr. 750cfm edelbrock and MSD Dist with Hyfire VI box. Electric cooling fan,Ice Box C4 trans with 2500stall and 411 gears with a locker. also on Nitrous (100 shot).
I would like to go with 150 shot of nos and make between 500 and 600 hp. If possible. I think the afrs are a bit steep right now almost 3000 cdn including tax shipping ect. There is a sale at the local speed shop for the Edelbrock heads 657.00 each plus tax no shipping. This is all going in my 66 Fairlane.
Any suggestions cam intake pistons is the stock crank ok?.

i got basically the same setup as you but with a 3000 stall c-6 244@050-534 lift cam and JE pistons 11.2-1 and im running an airgap rpm... pulls very well up to my (self imposed) 6500 rpm redline. Im thinking the victor may be a bit to much for that stall..?

i went to the rpm airgap and edelbrock 750 carb from a performer intake and holley 750vs,big difference and i lost no bottom end and gained a heap up top,id go for the airgap with the rpm heads

My old comb was almost the same as mavman.But i had a mech flat tappet.It was good for 11.70 in a
3100 pound mustang
