What does this plug say?

Take a look at this plug - I know I'm getting oil in the chamber, but does it look lean or rich to you? Confused between the carbon and the white . . .

I'd go with a little more fuel but for the most part looking good. Chris

Little lean WOT, timing looks perfect based on the side electrodes coloring.

Wrong heat range plug. You probably need to go up two steps. The base ring should not be carboned up unless it is pig rich. Try the hotter plug and then look at pulling some fuel out if it's still like that.

Remember, if you sit there and let it idle it's not going to reflect the cruise or power setting rich/lean.

You can always add an O2 sensor in to help you 'look into' the exhaust.

I say fix the valve seals / intake leak or whatever is causing the oil, then decide.

You cant be burning oil and get a good idea on mixture. IMHO you look pretty close once you get it cleaned up though

If you want to know how the engine is running at wide open throttle, you'll have to make a full throttle run, then cut the engine right after you let off the gas. If you don't, the plug will get all carboned up from idling around and will look rich.

As for how to read plugs... go to this EXCELLENT website.

Good Luck!
