Carb accel pump adjustment. Carb Help

How do adjust the pump . Do you tighten the the nut with the spring to take out slack or loosen it. Holley say .015 clearance. I have a street avanger that hesatates off idle.

Thanks

You adjust it so as soon as you bump the throttle is squirts, there can be no hesitation. The .015 clearance is measured between the top of the pump arm and bottom of the adjusting screw at FULL throttle(engine off). The clearance is just so you don't bend the pump arm or over extend teh diaphram.

If the carb is stock you most definatly will need to change the nozzle. Stock is a 25 which works for almost no one. A 31 is a good starting point.

Tightening the nut compresses the spring and makes the linkage looser.

It's not always the nozzle size, in my case years ago size changes did nothing but a pump cam change was the key. If I'm remembering right, a red cam was most longest duration and lift and so gave proper shot in my case.
