decode rear end tag

can someone tell me my gear ratio and if i have a open or posi rearend in my 97 f250 that i just bought

here's what the tag says

I question whether or not you're reading that tag correctly. The 6L26 is the gear ratio plus an indicator of whether or not the differential is a traction loc.

That info indicates that it is locked: the L in place of the decimal point in the ratio numbers. And, it has a 6.26:1 gear ratio. [img]/phpBB/images/smiles/icon_eek.gif[/img] I think that's probably a 3.26, not a 6.26. Check your tag again.

Note: If there is a space where the decimal point would go in the numeric ratio, the rear is not locked; it is open.
