Rebuilding an 8.8 costs

I was going to setup a rear half chassis with a 4-link 9" rear in my mustang. I really started looking at the 8.8 and REALLY COULDN'T SEE a Money Difference for an adjustable rearend.
Is there a reason why I should not do a 9" is this really that taboo
9"
The chassis kit for $400
The 9" rear $100 and the welding labor is my own time.
The shocks and all the other parts would run about another $500 or so.
8-Point roll cage $185.

8.8
3.23 gear for $350
the C-clip eliminator kit, the upper torque box kit is $550, subframe connectors $100
shocks $80-100
upper/lower control arms $380
