E7TE small block heads on C8OE block

Are there any problems using E7TE heads on a '68 302 block? It appears there is a difference where the coolant passage holes are on the block vs. the head???

I am using them on my 65 289 and they seem to be working fine other than an oil leak that I can't seem to get rid of. Make sure you plug all the holes in the rear of the heads or you will be sorry once you fire it up.

Yeah, I know about the Thermactor passages, got them plugged. Thanks for the info.

I drilled holes in the GT-40's to match the gasket against the 65 block. Three, I think - not very big. Search on the topic and you'll find it.

Kman,
i have a set of 68 heads. all cleaned and valve job
all ready been done. heads are still in a bag. i also have
the block, but that need to be cleaned and honed. from
what i'm told. ford only made the 68 heads one year. i don't
know if they can be interchanged.

Can someone give some more detail on matching the E7TE head to an older '68 302 block - I want to make this match this weekend.
blocking the rear holes on the head was mentioned - which holes? and with what?
What other issues might come up? rod lenght? bolt hole size?

Thanks!
