Question concerning a Ford 9". Can the flat type plate connection be swapped out for a yoke connection on the drive shaft side of the pinion?
If so source other than another 9" in a scrap yard?
Thanks,

They gotta all be the same, because all 9" ring and pinion sets are the same, they don't specify pinion spline, right?

Well...there are 2 different pinion splines, but you're not worried about it unless you have a set of Pro gears....which come in both small 28 spline and large 31 spline, IIRC.

don't worry with it. All 9" pinion stems are the same size from the factory. The big pinions are all aftermarket, FWIW.

Same pinion spline count. You just have to have the preload setup. You can do it by seeing how much torque it takes to remove the pinion nut but check the INCH lbs it takes to rotate the whole setup before you even tear it apart. Then torque the nut to the same ft lbs reading and then check the INCH lbs it takes to rotate it. If the inch lb reading is lower, tighten it some more. If more then, loosen just a little.

Don't know if you've already got the part or not, but the one I have is a brand new Moser 28 spline yoke. (MSR-PY210) takes a 1310 U-joint.

PM me if you're interested.

Thanks guys, all good to know. I do not know the spline count yet since it has not been opened up yet.
