Converting from speed density to Mass air

I have a buddy that has an 85 bronco with a 302. It currently has speed density. We are droping in a new long block and I brought up the option of converting to mass air. What all would we need to get or collect form a mass air mustang to do the swap. I think he already has the EEC-IV with the current setup so is it just harness, dizzy, intake?

You will need the computer...guaranteed, it is different than the SD version.

The manifold is basically the same. You will need the MASS air sensor or you could get a C&L to match your injectors.

The wiring harness, you will need. There are a number of sensors that the computer will be looking for input from...you don't need all of them, unless you want a "factory" install.

There are companies that make wiring hanesses for swaps into non-factory cars that have removed a lot of the unnecessary hookups. They aren't all that expensive, but they do add additional costs to the swap.

The distributor may be OK, I'm not sure.

where can i get some of those aftermarket harnesses. The bronco is only going to be used for fishing and beach cruising.

They are all over the net. I haven't got the latest for motorsport catalog, but I am pretty sure they have them listed in there too. The thing is, they are probably sourced from on of the people in the following URL.

There is a company ...painless wiring... that has been in the business for a while. I hear they have a good harness kit, I see it mentioned in a lot of hot rod magazines and meesages on boards.

Did you check the Tech department?

I can't do your homework for you...well I could, but I'm lazy... Anyway, here are some links to get you started. Nothing wrong with getting one off a junk car either...except
1.) why was in the junk yard in the first place
2.) chasing down problems on a harness you aren't too sure about in the first place, can cause baldness.
3.) some of the kits from these guys hae instructions on what needs to be hooked up and how to do it. Unless you have hidden talents with electronics, it can get pretty intense chasing circuits.

that's enough...for now.
