The Rochmond 9" mini spool fits an 8". If you mean full spool - no, never seen one.

Call Randy's Ring and Pinion.

If anyone has it, he does.

I bought one off ebay. Company on there sells both spools and mini spools.

Good Morning Gents

I has already checked with Currie. they are right down the road. Randy's does not have 8" spool either. Currie said I should be able to put 350-400 thru a mini spool. I have a 8" pumpkin case from a maverick that has all the extra ribs. So this should be the place to start.

Thanks guys
Jim

You should not have a problem with the 8" and mini spool. Below is a photo of my car when I was running an 8" with mini spool.

Good morning Econodrag

What gear ratio are you running? My son is putting this in a 2800lb 64 falcon. right now - just a little stock-block/cam 5.0 with a performer airgap and 600 holly headers/racing mufflers(Dynatech?). We were thinking 3.80's....4.10's might be a little on the wild side for now. This is a fun car only....minimum street stuff.

What type of horsepower/torque were you applying to that rearend? and what size tire did you have

Thanks
Jim

I was running a 4.62 gear ratio and at that time the car weighed around 3150 with driver. The tires were and are M/T 28x10.5x15 et drags. They were pretty tight under the fenders but worked well. I also had a pinion snubber that I would preload to stop axle wrap which would help with traction and wheel hop problems if you have any. The wheel hop is the killer for most rear ends.

As far as horse power and touque to the rear end. Here is what the combo was and what kink of rear wheel power is was making....

stock 302 bored .030 I think it a 78 block.
stock reground crank .020/.020
Eagle bushed I beam rods with 3/8 bolts
KB 116 .200 domed pistons
AFR 185 heads 61cc chambers out of the box
Proform aluminum Roller rockers
Victor Jr intake with 1" 4 hole spacer
Mighty Demon 750 carb.
Hooker comp. headers 1 5/8 prim. with 3" collectors
Full MSD ignition system
Clay Smith Cam: Solid Flat cam
Adv Dur= 306*
.050 Dur=264*
lift====.575
installed + 4*
This is all in a 68 Mercury Cougar with C-4 Trans. with 4000 stall and an 8" rear with minispool and 4.62 gaers.
At the chassis dyno the combination made 340 hp @6800 and was still climbing. The dyno tech did not want to take the engine any higher due to no main girdle. The torque was 368 lbft @4300

Econodrag is being modest - here's a better shot of his symphony "Air on an 8 Inch".

Set up right, you can beat the crap out of them.
