Car falls on its face between 1st and 2nd.........

just got my 100 mile break-in period over with on my 94 306...So, today at a red light i decided i was really going to jump on it and run through the gears...I am ashamed to say that i can't even spin the tires from 1st to 2nd....When i shift at 5500 rpm's the car falls to about 3000 rpm's and seems like it falls on its face until it hits about 3800 rpm's and then it takes off....

I have a 306 with TRW forged pistons, stock crank, F303 cam, Y303 aluminum heads, 1.7 roller rockers and a Trick Flow Track Heat upper and lower intake....I also have 30lb FMS injectors for when the N2O kicks in...I currently have the timing set at 12*.....

Could a vacuum problem possibly cause this to happen??? My rpm's die very quickly between shifts....It seems like it just needs to be tuned and tweeked a bit, but i am not sure where to start....Thanks in advance for any info!!!!

Try 14 then 16 initial and go run it each time and see how it does. You need to have all your timing in by 3000 rpms. Also I assume you had a chip burned for it? The 30 pound injectors seem a bit big for that but I'm no expert on the injected / nitrous setups.

No, there was no chip burned for it....I was told when i bought the car that it had a chip installed, but i have no other details on it....how can i check it??

Here is the website that i used to calculate my injector size:

http://www.smokemup.com/auto_math/fuel_injector.php

I know the injectors are on the big side for N/A, but i didn't want to run my 24# injectors at a duty cycle of 100% when i was on the juice....I don't think the injectors would cause my problem...

I am going to check my TPS voltage and check for vac leaks this evening...

Could be running lean. I had to back the timing off in order to eliminate the flat spot. My 331 would do something similiar to that before I had it dyno tuned at which time they determined it was running lean. They increased the main jets and put the timing back where it should be and HP increased dramatically. Admittedly, I don't have much experience with fuel injection systems so i'm not sure how much of this applies to your issue.

i really highly doubt that my car is running lean with the 30lb injectors...However, I do believe that my check valve is bad in my fuel pump b/c my fuel pressure bleeds off immediately after shut down....I don't know if that would have anything to do with it.....

If it bleeds down that quick (should retain max pressure for at least 30 minutes), it may be a stuck injector, bad regulator...or like you say, fuel pump. FP will cause all sorts of problems...one of which you are describing (flat spot between gears). I'm assuming it's an automatic trans?

Any codes?

The car is a 5 speed and i solved the problem tonight....it was a bad wire connection on the TPS...my nitrous is wired to the TPS and the connection wasn't solid...All is good to go now!!!! thanks for your help fellas...
