EDIT:

When is a crank trigger really needed or a car?

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I got the holley annihilator ingnition system and I was planning on using a HOLLEY ANNIHILATOR PART # 845-2 magnetic pickup and building my own wheel.

I need to fab up a pickup wheel.

Do I need a 60 tooth wheel? Of some other type of wheel?

I'm confussed

your confused,so am i, i was in the pits, with iron horse pro mod car, and overheard them talking about changing crank triggers, from on manufacture to another, because the first one had to much leed time, well that told me i overheard something i'm glad or unable to grasp. So if you want to build your own crane trigger, the old lincolns had them on the cranks as i removed the system when i put the motor in my pickup, its got a front timing cover with a trigger, mounted in this timing cover, and the inside of the distributer, dizzy, is weird, but uses a normal dura spark module bill

OK,. well after 15 minutes on hold at holleys tech line and a transfer over to the "right guy"

James said I need to make/buy a wheel with 4 evenly spaced magnets in it just like msd for the discontinued holley stuff..... not a newer style oem wheel with tooth notches.

Should be no problem

Hummm...

Now I'm thinking that the 4 magnets in the wheel need to be in a special place right?

Would I just design the wheel so that when one of the four magnets is next to the magnetic pickup the #1 cylinder is at tdc?

the bottem dampner of the ford system has a 4 pointed wheel built on it, and the cap has 4 high terminals ,that line up with one terminal on rotor and other 4 line up with the lower terminal ,and no vacum advance , ok bill

hummm... I starting to wonder if all this is even worth it? With my Holley ignition box i will program my own timing curve exactly were i want it at each and every 100 rpm. So basicly I'm just locking out the dizzy and now I'm wondering why I even want a crank trigger??????????

Do I really need one?
