Nitrous System

Well i thinking about getting a Nitrous System for my 351w and I was leaning towards Edelbrock because I think the blue (nos) bottle is to popular but what I want to know is a 100 hp shot safe to use on a fairly stock Windsor and are their any modifications that need to be made? spark plugs, fuel pump, ect….. no one in their right mind could tell you yes or no fairly stock does not discribe much ..... like does that mean it is right from the factroy ready to blow or stock rebuild or what .... how are the bearings I would check them before you strap on a kit if you are not to sure stock pistons rods crank ??? what about the heads new head gaskets what head gaskets head bolts . it is the same story as trying to put a blower on a car lots of stress and pressure will be put on every componet of the engine you could blow a head gasket or snap a head bolt or cause damage the bottom end by applying the extra stress of boost or in this case a rush of oxygen provided by nos if they are not up to specs . all i am trying to say is if you didn't build the engine yourself or have it built it would pay to take a look at it you never know what is going on with an engine that is not been built personally.

All I can say is I know many people who have run a 150 shot on pure stock without problems.I believe 100 shot will not be a problem at all as long as its setup correctly and you have some sort of restraint in its use.

They say go 1 step colder and retard timing 4 degrees for a 100 shot.Whether colder plugs are needed Im not sure but it wont hurt to be safe.

I run 1 step colder on my daily driven LS1 with a 125 shot. Computer retards timing per knock sensor.

It is perfectly ok to run that engine with up to 125hp. If it has a problem it is going to blow up regardless if you are spraying it with NO2 or not. I would say if it does not burn oil and the engine tune is good then go for the 125 shot. I ran my stock 289 with a 125 shot all the time. You just have to make sure you have enough fuel. I never backed the timing off or ran colder plugs for that application and it was perfectly fine. Of course I did have low compression like around 9 to 1 so that does make a difference. I now run 175 shot on the 342 and I only run 1 heat range colder plugs and 3 degrees timing retard. It runs great that way and I have never had detonation. Aluminum heads make a differenece though. Cast iron heads will detonate quicker the the aluminum ones. And the "Bottles are for Babies" thing is pretty lame!! It is hard to argue with the results that Nitrous can give for the amount of money. You just can't get a better bang for the buck with any other mod!!!!!!!
