DRAG RACE QUESTION?

Do most of the racers run with no air cleaner?

DRAG RACE QUESTION?

I run with no air cleaner on the strip. I have an air cleaner I keep on the carb at all other times. Once I forgot to take the air cleaner off and the car slowed down about a quarter of a second. My air filter is small and short and I also have a fresh air intake and the carb is jetted for no filter so it all adds up.

DRAG RACE QUESTION?

Theres a guy here who ran without a air cleaner. He was in the 10's. He lost control and sucked a huge amount of sand into his engine. He no longer runs 10's. Depends on how much risk you want to take.

You should always run something to help straighten/curve the air down into the motor. That will make for a better signal to the boosters and more power. Now weather of not that includes a filter is up to you.

DRAG RACE QUESTION?

K&N 14" air filter because the air needs to be smoothedout. Even when the air looks clean, there is lots of dirt and dust that will score your cylinder walls/rings.

DRAG RACE QUESTION?

hmm - i was running 9.43's consistently (like 5 times in a row) then i took off the aircleaner and did a little timing tweaks - 9.16... mine is pretty restrictive though... its a drop base and the k&n filter isn't real tall...
