Removes the possabillity of hitting neutral when shifting to drive. It reverses the 123 so your shifting back towards yourself.

it will have higher line pressure which applies the piston in the drum harder for a faster shift and less slippage. also with no band apply in low, the shift is quicker also. the higher pressure can slightly slow up a low horsepower car, because it takes some hp to get the higher line pressure. i use one on the street and at the track and like the ultra firm shifts. shift kits dont come close.

Well it depends on what kind of shifter you have. Most "ratchet" shifters work forward and reverse. Other gate shifters can still work by getting a new gate with the pattern reversed. You will have to call the manufacturer to see if this is an option.

A reverse pattern valve body has the fluid channels rerouted to bypass a lot of the valving that helps with a smooth shift. The factory channels are organized through valves, accumulators and orifices to "cusion" the shifts. A valve body with only a shift kit effectivly disables these "cusions" but the fluid still has to go the long way around. This can cause a bit of delay in shifting. A full manual reverse pattern valve body sends the fluid through the customized "short cut". This causes a hard quick shift that you just can't match with a shift kit.
