Fuel Line Question

I had to order a pick-up to replace the EFI in-tank fuel pump:

http://store.summitracing.com/partde...=KeywordSearch

This pick-up has a -10 AN end on it. Do I have to order a -10 AN fitting and use -10 AN hose (9/16" I.D.) to the fuel filter and then use -6 AN hose (11/32" I.D.) from the filter to the pump and from the pump to the carb? Or will the -10 AN hose be too big from the tank to the filter? If so, what other choice do I have??

Fuel Line Question

The size of the line depends on your HP now, and what your future plans are. Using EFI can get by with slightly smaller lines at a given HP since they use a lot more pressure.

You really need to list your setup to get any valid information.

I am using AN8 supply and AN6 return for 500 HP.for a carb with a return system.

Fuel Line Question

Not more than 400 HP.

Basically, I want to know if it's ok to use 10 AN for the short run from the tank to the filter, and then 6 AN line from the filter on to the rest of the system.

I have to use 10 AN line from the tank because that is the size of the fitting on the end of the pick-up (see link above).

Fuel Line Question

Use the #10, it will be no problem from the tank to the filter. I routinely plumb race cars with #12 from the tank to the filter with no problems. Just remember, that if you think it is too big, think about how big the inside of your filter is and that the fuel has to fill in the inside of the filter, so it will be fine.

Fuel Line Question

You "could" buy a reducer that will go from -10 to -6 but as said earlier, the -10 will be fine.
