650 Mighty Demon x 2

Hey gang,
Can I get some input on Carb selection?

351w stroked 408
12:1 Compression
Cleveland Heads 4v 61cc 2.19/ 1.71 Ferrea
252 roller cam?
forged Eagle crank
Wiseco Racing pistons
tunnelram

I was concidering (2) 650 Mighty Demons Mechanical secondaries. Any thoughts on this matter? My engine builder is recommending (2)700/750 Holleys. I talked to Barry Grant inc. And they say each carb flows more than they are labeled for, as far as Demons go. Trust me guys, I know the best performance would be a Victor/Parker and one big carb. This is also a show vehicle, so I gotta have the eye candy. So tell me what's the best two carbs to slap on top?
Thanks,

I would go holley. It has always been my experience that more power is made and they are more easily tuned. I have dyno tuned many demons and many holleys and holleys are much easier and responsive they run better and with less work. I could not imagine trying to get two demons to run the same I have had issues just getting one demon to run right...... go holley they kick ass.

First off, I'd agree.......go with a Holley setup for what you have described. But I'm not sure you need to go 700-750. I'd use 2 600's probably.

Secondly.....Do you know the guys name at Demon you talked to? I'd sure like to have him answer a couple of "flow" questions for me.

I don't know if he was implying that 2 Demon 650s would flow in excess of 1300 cfm on your engine, but if he was I would totally disagree. And if they did, it would be an indication that the carbs were restricting flow and you would be leaving power on the table. Not a likely scenario, IMO for your combo.

This has to do with how the industry has rated carbs and the actual pressure drop accross the booster venturi in a given application.

Here's a link that will explain:

Anyway, sounds like a fun project. Good luck!

Get a couple carbs that are calibrated for use on a dual 4bbl setup. Summit use to (and I believe still does) sell complete tunnel ram setups (including carbs). They should be able to hook you up with 'tunnel ram' carbs.

Else, call Bigs or some other carb tuner.

in my opinion i would run away from any demon carb made lately as it seems to me they have no quality control there , seems like they are just making them as fast as they can.

Holley makes (check summit # HLY-0-4224) a Model 4160, 660cfm "center squirters", just for tunnel ram engines. Mechanical primary and secondary butterflys linked with a one-to-one ratio, and a center mounted accelerator pump nozzle shooting into the primary and secondary venturis. I think that's what N20 mike was talking about.

I talked to Comp Cams about the two 650 Mighty Demons and the rest of my set up. Here's what they recommended for my weekend warrior /stip application: @50

Cam # 35-780-9
268/275
696 intake
672 exhaust
106 Lobe seperation

He said it would pull from 4000-7000rpm

So, What kinda Hp/Trq should I expect out of my application?

268/275 Solid roller cam
forged Eagle crank, Eagle H-Beam rods
Wiseco Racing pistons
tunnelram with (2) 650 Mighty Demons

Slap some big primary tube headers on it and you'll probably need to be worried about splitting the block....I say 600 - 625 FWHP 480#/ft torque. I would love to hear it scream at 7,000k!
