couple of questions about RPM heads

Thinking about geting a set of the RPM heads with 1.90 valves. Was wondering for anyone that has used them what spark plugs do you use
do they require and special headers or header modification are there any hiding gremlins when swithching to them from stock heads.
Also can they be shaved to increase compression, they are 60 cc and current heads are 55cc

couple of questions about RPM heads

The RPM heads use any standard header. I use Autolite #26 plugs in my Edelbrocks, but any equivalent will work. There is nothing but the usual issues when swapping. Of course you will need the appropriate rocker arm style depending on which head you buy. I would use a quality head gasket and head bolt set. If you are running a large cam and stock pistons , I would check v to p to make sure you have plenty. The heads can easily be milled down to 58cc. Hope this helps,Tim.

couple of questions about RPM heads

I asked Edelbrock the same question about milling just two weeks ago. They told me they can safely be milled .065" and every .010' equals 1 cc.

couple of questions about RPM heads

I have the 2.02 RPM heads on my 306. Did run into a sparkplug to piston issue using TRW domes and there is little room for the #3 plug and boot with Hooker #6102 headers. I've cooked a few boots even while using the high temp sleeves.

You will need head bolt bushings if you are putting them on a 289/302/5.0. The holes are drilled for 1/2" head bolts. No big deal, I got mine from Edelbrock along with new head bolts.

I would suggest you cc the heads before & after if you decide to mill them.

I had a set of Performer heads that I milled .020 and still ended up with 60+ cc in every chamber.

When I asked Edelbrock what was goin on.....I was told the 60cc out of the box number was "nominal".

Go figure.

Autolite 26 is crazy. The spark plug about 1/4 in the hole still. I run a pair of ported performer RPM heads on my 351 and when i check the autolite 26 before installing the heads the plug was still many threads from being all the way in. I ended up running 3926s. On a side not a buddy of mine told me to run 26's says that what he uses. After i showed him what was up with the plugs he changed plugs and it made a definate noticable gain in performance and response. Never knew how much gain a spark plug could bring
