\'39 Ford Coupe

Anybody know what the lug nut spacing is on a '39 Ford Coupe?
Also, can anyone recommend any part sites for a '39 Ford Coupe?
Any help would be deeply appreciated.

39 Fords use the "wide five" wheels, which mount on a 10.25" bolt circle. Used on 36-39 Fords, in rim diameters of 15, 16 and 17 inches, with 16 inche wheels being the most common.

36-38 were still mechanical brake cars, 39 got hydraulic brakes, but drums interchange from 36-39.

Not a big job to adapt 1940-41 hubs/drums if you want the more common 40-48 lug pattern.

so it's safe to say a 5-4-3/4" wheel wouldn't line up? excuse my ignorance, I assumed all lug patterns were typical. The only cars I've ever worked on are GM's. I have inherted a Ford and need to move it. I was hoping to use some GM wheels to temporarily mount for the move. Doesn't look like that is going to work.
Are there any late model Ford's I could go to the junkyard and pull wheel from?

No, you will need wide five wheels from a 36-39 Ford to bolt up to the stock hubs on your 39 (unless the hubs have been swapped already). It will be obvious when you see the wheels or hubs...the lugs are WAY far apart, with a large circular opening in the center of the wheels.

If you change to 1940 drums, the 5x51/2 traditional "ford truck" rim will fit. In addition, ECI makes a bolt on kit for 48 and back Fords to keep the 5 x 51/2 early Ford pattern -- used late Ford Truck 2x2 disc routers and Big GMC calibers (impala). I put a set on my Dads 1939 Ford to run Disk Brakes. The router are 12". Kit is easy to install and works great. Dad's coupe has a Columbia 2 speed rear end with the 5 1/2 x 5 bolt pattern, 4.44 low and 3.17 high.

Most '39 Fords were changed out to '40 and up hubs during the 1950's if they were "Hot Rods". The 1948 to 1956 Ford F-1 rims that were 15 inch dia.

You don't let on where you're from but if you're anywhere near the center of New Mexico I have access to original wheels and would help you move the thing.

Talk to your local circle track racers, as the "Wide 5" bolt pattern is still a very common bolt circle, and some one is bound to have some bent wheels that you can use to roll the car around.
