AOD in park wants to lurch forward when revved up???!!!

Just put in a used aod behind my stock 289 and when in park at idle, it's fine. When I rev it up to 2500/3000 after a second the rpms will drop down 3/400 and the car wants to move forward. Is this tranny bad; something stuck or moving when it shouldn't. It sat for 7-8 years, but had only 50K when I bought it. Any advice on what to do?? THanks in advance. Chris

That wasn't his question. Sounds like it's not going in park. Have you check your linkage?

Maybe he's checking the total timing. Kinda like when I bounce mine off the 6K rpm chip in neutral, cause I can.

Back to the real Q. Do you have the TV cable attached? What kind of shifter are you using?

If not linkage, it is most likely an internal problem. Last time I came across a car doing this the needle bearing under the forward drum hub shredded apart and metal was stuck between the clutches in that drum forcing the car to go forward.

Since it sat for so long some dirt/foreign material might make the valvebody stick which along with the increased line pressure from the higher rpm could cause it to creep a bit.

I think I'm going with 1badgt. I replaced my tranny, so TV rod was not affected or changed. In park at idle it's fine, but when revved up it does want to creep forward. How or can I go about fixing this problem? I put in new fluid along with filter/screen. Maybe the tranny's just to gummed up? Thanks in advance. Chris

You might try removing the VB and flushing it out with solvent.

Do you know if a 88 aod valve body will function/work properly when put in my 85 aod? Thanks, Chris
