poping out of carb and collapsed lifters!!!!

when the motor is cold i can get it to start right up. But there are some lifters taping and while its idle(very poorly too) it pops out of the the carb. It wont rev like it should either, it jus pops more when you try and rev it. Does gas in the oil collapse lifters from having to big of a carb??

Gas in the oil will thin it and the oil will bleed out of the lifters... Change the oil... then change it again.... use $0.99 cent oil for the first change, then the good stuff for the second...

THen take care of the fuel getting into the oil issue...

Happy Easter!

Are your lifters adjustable or positive stop? If they are adjustable, is there anyway that there could be a couple that have too much preload on them and they are holding the valves open just a tiny bit? That would cause the popping out of the carb.

it wouldn't necessarily CAUSE the popping but can contribute to it.... The cold start popping could be from a choke misadjustment, but the oil should have the lifters pumped up only a couple seconds after firing. If they're not doing it something is amiss.

One Other thing... DONT REV IT when it's cold!!!..... Please. That does NO good for the engine, give the oil and engine a chance to warm up, and find out the issue with the choke either too tight ot too loose when it's warming up, check for vacuum leaks near the base plate as well.
