Engine rebuild books

I'm getting ready to build my first 390. Picked up a long block at my buddies wrecking yard and now i'm looking for some useful books to get me on my way. Any ideas?

Engine rebuild books

The following books are good references and a steal at under $13 each.

Rebuild Big Block Ford Engines
http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/re...e%26n%3D283155

Rebuild Ford V-8 Engines
http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/re...e%26n%3D283155

Also, Bill Carroll's Ford V8 Performance Guide is back in print.

The "how to rebuild" books are mandatory...Ive had them for years. You have to know the basic stuff before you can "hot rod" em

The first and last one were the two I was looking at at amazon. The middle one isn't much for me becuase I am probably not going to be doing anything but FE. I have rebuilt a few VW aircooled motors, those are a PAIN! Hopefully the FE will be easier.

You need to get on www.fordfe.com too. There is almost no good info on the Ford FE. There is a book but it has some errors. The folks on fordfe.com know what's up with those motors.

I built my first engine using Tom Monroe's books, the one above (#2) and the more generic Engine Builder's Handbook. They took me through the task very nicely. I built a 460 so I can't comment on the FE issues.

Thanks for all the info guys. Hopefully I'll have a nice 390 in my Galaxie by the time summer is over.

I have the "how to rebuild your big block ford" by Steve Christ...It is a very good book with lots of pictures and history of the engine.
