Romac Balancer & Scat Crank

Hi Guys,

I am hoping I havent made a mistake here as I have a new Scat 9000 series crank for my 393 windsor build & have just bought a Romac 0241/28 harmonic balancer which replaces the standard Ford balancer. However after reading the Romac fitting instructions it states that a Scat crank snout is machined 0.001" undersize when compaired to the standard factory crank snout diameter which means if I fit the balancer it would lose its interferance fit, (however i tried fitting the balancer by hand & it feels like it would be a snug fit).
I have measured the Scat crank snout diameter with a digital vernier & am getting 1.3730". Can anyone advise what the standard 84' 351 Windsor crank snout diameter is as I may have a shiney new Romac for sale!!

Thanks Martyn.

Romac Balancer & Scat Crank

Hi Dave,
I cant measure the bore of the balancer accurately as I dont have a bore gauge or telescopic gauges but will be able to get it measured accurately tomorrow. However according to the Romac data sheet the balancer bore is size for size of the factory crank snout diameter & upto +0.005".

Cheers
Martyn
