Replacement Carpet...

I have a 1975 mercury comet that will soon have the floor pan out of a 1974 ford maverick. What is a reputable place to buy molded or tailored carpet for a good price?

I got mine at Auto Krafters. Fit pretty good. also bought one from Summit a while back...both were for the same application (one was a '74 Maverick, the other was a '75 Maverick). The Summit one also fit pretty good. Both were made for the Maverick specifically.

Have had good experence with ACC brand carpet. Bought some carpet from Summit once they didn't have the ACC in stock and talked me into OhioCarpet. That was the worst fitting S*H*I*T I have seen in my life.

Thanks for the replies guys. I went with ACC even though it cost more than other places that I found.

Just don't trim it too much at a time. The molded carpet I bought for my '65 fastback 'stang fit great but needed to be trimmed around the edges. I almost went too short on the first trim!!!

Yes, before you trim at all, place the carpet where it should be and put lots of weight in the floor area to help press it into place. I used old phone books and manuals and basically anything I could get my hands on. The carpet settles nicely, conformed to all the curves and angles and required virtually no trimming at all except for minor trimming under the sill plates. Don't be in a hurry to trim it and leave the weight on it for a couple of days if you can.

Yes, good choice with ACC.
The above posts are right... trim off as little as possible at first, especially around the sill plates....
Also, try and let the carpet sit in the sun for a couple hours to loosen up which makes it easier to mold.
Also, do not use a drill to put holes in the carpet... use a small knife or punch.
Have fun!
