Small Block Timing Covers and WaterPumps

Will a standard rotation v belt water pump work on a timing cover which originally had a serpentine belt set-up?This is on a '83(?) 302 which had a drivers side inlet water pump but I'd like to use a passenger side inlet v belt set-up.The front seal comes out the front,quite an improvement over the early covers which came out the back and required removal to change.

I had no problems with that.Mostly when converting efi engines to carb for ol stangs.Used a el fuel pump then..

I recently had a similar question and after talking to ford tech,was told that it can be done IF you use a pump with a round hole instead of a pump wiith a "D" shaped hole,as this will cause a leak..........hope this helps.........MARK
