I have built half a dozen that made 600-700 at the crank, I know other guys above that. I always used D1 blocks, just happen to have them laying around so thats what I used

I've seen quite a few with much more than 600-700. I've never heard of anyone breaking one either. Doesn't mean it can't happen, just not common.

Wait, I broke one. But it was 60 over and a cylinder wall split. It didn't split the block or break a main cap or anything like that. It happened on the way back from the muffler shop after installing cutoffs, which were uncorked. My buddy was with me and we were driving under this concrete bridge and I floored it and POP.

I asked a machine shop machinist that quest once. He had a bunch of Ford, Mopar and Chevy big blocks in his shop at the same time and compared the caps of all three together. Checy was so small it was funny. Mopar was pretty beefy, but the 460's, he said unless you're putting a blower or running Daytona this weekend, you'll break something else before this Ford block breaks. Most braeks are due to something else and not any weakness in the BBF block.

the stock rods are the problem, even the football rods with arp rod bolts, the rod typically breaks at the beam, I would definately suggest a scat h-beam for hp apps. I have seen numerous stock cranks on a well balanced motor take 8k+ rpm in pull trucks

Stock Rods are considered good untill the 550-600 hp range. I have heard arguments the either design (football of Broach)is equal, when they fail it is in mid-lower beam not at the base where the beam meets the large end.

As for the blocks with stock 2 bolt caps the are good to the 800 hp range and installing 4 bolt caps I have heard of guys pushing the to well over 1000hp.

Stock cranks are pretty strong to the have large journals and alot of overlap and again I have heard 700-800 hp+

This assumes a clean and well tuned engine, a poor tune can destroy an engine at stock hp levels.

The girdles are only good for holding everything together when it splits !! They are pretty useless as you still only have 2 bolts holding the cap (They still Walk) the only effective way to solve the problem is to spread the load out (I.E. 4 bolt caps) and spread the stress over a larger area.
