Heart transplant in the Cat

I have decided for no real good reason to give the Cougar a heart transplant. Here is the combo;
408 - 12.3:1 compression
AFR 225 heads
FPA 1 5/8 - 1 3/4 step headers
Victor Jr intake with a Bigs 950 carb. (oh and there is this funny little spacer under the carb that has a line coming from each end )
Lunati solid roller specs below:
Adv Dur - 289* int - 297* exh
Dur @ .050 256* int - 264* exh
lift w/ 1.6 .646 int - .624 exh
Lobe sep. 110*
Intake C/L 106*
Well thats all the basic stuff. Any comments?

Looks like you are sitting on a winner there. You might think about swapping that victor jr for a super victor down the road. Let us know how it runs.

Does this funny little spacer hold a funny kind of gas?

Should be a runner! Not that it isn't now!

you might want 1 7/8 headers for that amount of air. i have similar setup, bigger cam, less head, on alky. runs into the 9's at 2650lbs. different converter is estimated to go 9.70's.

you'll like it.

I would also go with a super victor and some 1-7/8" headers

What happened to the 347? Looks like you might need to invest in a good set of gloves, a neck brace and possibly a chassis certification. I will be hard to keep those wheels down with that kind of torque. When would be a good time to come by the house to check out the build?
Good Luck with it....

You can come by any time during the day. We are going to try and get it out to Redline Saturday night for some testing. The 347 is fine and running well. It has knocked down a 6.93 1/8th and a 10.96 1/4 in the heat. So I would have to say the 347 is good. The 408 is actually for the new Cougar that will weigh in at approx. 2500 pounds with driver. Just putting it in the heavy Cougar for break-in and initial tune up. I do not think it will run fast enough in the Blue Cougar to need a certification but will need a cert. in the project Cougar. expecting 8.90,s in the 1/4 from that car. The Super Victor and at least 1 7/8 headers will be set up for the project Cougar. May even go with 2" headers since those headers will have to be custom fabricated for the Mustang II style front end that is on the car now. We will see what happens this weekend.

Ok....We took the Cougar out tonight and it ran a best of 6.51 @ 105.76 in the 1/8. On a side note the car never did make a clean pass. Had tire spin on every pass so there is more in it.

Good job.....that's about a 10.20-10.30 1/4 mile pass isn't it? With traction most likely a high 9 is possible even in the blue car. How heavy is the blue one with driver and fuel?
Did you use that funny spacer yet?
