I had a 2.5 in dual exhaust with 40 series muffler installed on my 351W with Hedmans headers/ 3" collectors. After looking at the job the muffler shop did I noticed they installed the FlowMaster with the inlet facing the tail pipe It's backwards:
Whats your all's opinion On what if anything this might do.

Tech at FlowMaster told me I would notice poor econmy, and Told me to have the guy call him that installed the mufflers and he would teach him a thing or two about it.

Of course the guy at the muffler shop say he does it all the time and that it doesn't matter, however he is going to change them per my request. Will it matter? who's right?

Seems like a lot of engineering and sound technology wasted to me. If you have to spend the same amount of time either way, why on earth would you install them backwards? I would guess that he didn't have the right offset in stock so he installed the closest one but backwards. Its a good thing you looked close enough to notice.

It would matter to me, and you paid a "Pro" to install them in the correct position, not the easiest position. Flow masters are directional in the way that they work that's why they're marked in and out, unlike some other mufflers. Make 'em spin them around.

I think your right, didn't have the right offset and times money so what the hey just put them in he'll never notice! What do you think having them backwards would do?

You said you talked to the rep at Flowtech. He should know what he is talking about, more so than anyone.

I agree! he didn't get into the what would would happen if they were installed wrong though, and I was looking to educate myself a little with the feedback from you all.

What's up with the buck? And why is he starring at me…man that is just plain creepy. As I was reading through this post this morning I thought I was on the wrong forum
Make them turn them around, they did not mark them in and out on the ends for not.
Call the Flow master tech back and ask him to be more specific he can most likely answer your questions better than anyone..

Doesn't it sound funny? Look at the Flowmaster web site and check the cut away views of the mufflers. You'll see it DOES make a difference. The baffles inside are designed for exhaust to pass through in one direction. If it didn't matter, Flowmaster wouldn't bother to label in/out.

I haven't been able to hunt for several years now. Texas has very nice bucks.

It's very quiet at idle, not what I exspected and at WOT it gets louder but it just doesn't sound like the sound clips. Once thier installed correctly I'll beable to tell you the difference I am sure.
